Over 3000 dengue cases already reported in India and the number is rising. Delhi has been hit badly with dengue and there are cases of death also. Dengue can be fatal as it may result in sharp fall of the blood platelets and there is no anti-viral available for it. The primary reason for dengue is female ‘Aedes Aegypti’ mosquito. Dengue is different than malaria (caused by ‘Anopheles’ mosquito) though some of the symptoms may be the same. Dengue can also be confused largely with influenza, typhoid fever, meningitis, viral hepatitis.
Chekungunya is another threat that is soon rising in states of southern India and more than 50 people have already lost their lives in Kerala. The reason for chekungunya is again same as dengue - ‘Aedes Aegypti’. These diseases, dengue and chekungunya are spreading rapidly across the city claiming lives of many.
The main reason for the widespread of this disease is stagnant water that is available in plenty in India. Even the premier hospital like AIIMS has reported dengue cases on its campus due to unhygienic conditions on there. A doctor from AIIMS has died due to dengue and PM’s grandsons too have been hit with this deadly fever. And despite all this our intelligent ministers feel that there is no need to panic and that it surely is not an epidemic.
In the illusions of the infrastructure boom the country (government) is turning blind to some of the basic necessities like clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and clean safe environment. Our country is supposedly the exporter of viruses to other countries as per World Health Organisation (WHO). The citizens and laymen are busy helping each other donating blood, being there for neighbours. However, the politicians seem to be less worried about anything except probably announcing relief money to the victims and their families. Stagnant water still remains and mosquitoes are happily breeding in there getting equipped to spread more diseases.

Things have to change soon before people become restless and start getting agitated about the issues. Like many others I am too confused with what should change, how and from where we should start. My blog is just a simple attempt to spread the awareness about things but ofcourse not to disquiet you all in any way.
